Corporate Accounting Associate

We have an immediate need for a Corporate Accounting Associate to help assist our Tax team. The Associate will manage the business license compliance and support other national compliance initiatives. The role offers a positive, team-oriented environment and exposure to all areas of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Research new jurisdiction requirements for compliance and tax implications
  • Manage and update the registered agent portal
  • Ensure legal entity compliance with all state requirements such as preparation of annual reports, business licenses and permits, and resale certificate validation
  • Maintain the tax calendar, notices log. return payment schedule and tax certificate portal
  • Prepare the tax compliance for Forms 1099
  • Verify new vendors and set them up in the accounting system
  • Prepare periodic indirect tax returns including Property Tax, Sales Tax, Gross Receipts Tax, Business Tax, CAT Tax, and B&O Tax
  • Assist the Tax Manager with data gathering, report analysis, account analysis and reconciliation for indirect tax audits
  • Track and monitor tax notices
  • Work with Accounts Payable to manage check requests and electronic fund transfers to taxing authorities
  • Research tax issues and communicate implications to project teams
  • Collaborate with other business units to gather information as required


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 years of accounting & tax experience
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office
  • Experience researching state & local tax laws and regulations using third party research tools
  • Construction firm, real estate or development experience a plus
  • Experience with JD Edwards or other comparable ERP solutions
  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize competing tasks, anticipate resource needs and meet deadline
  • Ability to carry out job responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner
  • Superior judgement and critical thinking skills. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
