Summary
The Cost Accountant is responsible for various accounting duties for the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining standard costs on perpetual inventory records based on purchases, bills of materials and routings, rolling out yearly Standard Costs
  • Conducting research and obtaining reports that provide detailed information not supplied by general accounting systems to determine costs of business activity, such as raw materials purchased, inventory, labor, etc.
  • Analyzing and determining the cost effect of changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, rate schedules or services provided.
  • Reviewing, recommending and auditing accounting controls to ensure accurate perpetual inventory and cost of sales records
  • Participate in the Physical Inventory count process. Analysis of reason of variation, carrying out required adjustment with required approvals
  • Providing management with routine and ad hoc reports specifying and comparing factors affecting costs, inventory, and profitability of products and services.
  • Working with Product Line Management Team on Price Increase, Tracking Actuals vs Budget
  • Weekly reporting and analysis of Purchase Price Variance and tracking actuals to forecast
  • Managing the fixed assets accounting and reporting. Generates a depreciation schedule managing BNA software
  • Carrying out periodic physical verification of Fixed Assets and variation analysis
  • Preparation of Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation schedules for Inventory, Fixed Assets and related General Ledgers
  • Working Capital Target - Weekly HFM Reporting Sales, AR, AP, Bookings, Backlog
  • Analyze and post costing and AP distributions. Enter journal entries related to inventory and reviewed distribution
  • Month end close and period opening and closing tasks

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting or equivalent experience is required , qualified CMA Preferred
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in a manufacturing environment is required (combination of private manufacturing and public experience preferred) understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Oracle and HFM Financial management experience preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (such as vlookups, conditional statements, pivot tables, data analysis, data visualization, what-if-analysis)
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously by prioritizing tasks
