General Motors Legal Staff is seeking an attorney to join its Data Team supporting its growing global data, connected services, and customer experience businesses, with primary focus on Mexico with a support role for other countries. The attorney will directly advise GM's business and development teams on new consumer and B2B offerings, will review related marketing and consumer communications, and will draft and negotiate technology transactions with vendors, connected service recipients (including consumers), and data licensees, primarily in connection with General Motors' connected service operations in Mexico. The attorney will report to GM's lead attorney for Data located in the United States and will participate as a member of GM's Mexico Connected Services and Customer Experience Leadership team. The attorney will be located in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general legal advice to technical and business teams on the development, delivery, sale, and operation of industry-leading connected technologies delivered through automotive vehicles and other mobile devices with an emphasis on compliance, data protection, and a world class customer experience
  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on commercial transactions, with an emphasis on technology and data licensing transactions
  • Respond to inquiries from business clients across the organization, with primary focus on GM's Mexico business, regarding compliance requirements, including consumer protection, and cybersecurity requirements
  • Partner with business operations teams to process and respond to consumer and other third party inquiries regarding GM's retail products and services offered in Mexico
  • Review and advise on Spanish language marketing and consumer communications materials, focusing on the Mexico market
  • Provide support for GM's connected technologies in other countries.

Additional Job Description

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience supporting consumer product businesses
  • Strong transactions experience with an emphasis on technology and data licensing transactions
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English language communications
  • Strong understanding of Mexican law with emphasis on Mexico consumer protection laws
  • Experience providing legal advice in a fast-paced and innovative global business environment
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and collaborate with cross-functional teams, as well as the ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to express complex legal matters in clear, concise, business-friendly language
  • Ability to efficiently resolve issues and recommend solutions that are legally sound and pragmatic in the context of business goals
  • Familiarity with the automotive, technology, connected services, fintech and/or telecommunications industry is a plus

Education Requirements
  • Law degree from an accredited college or university
  • Admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction in the United States

Compensation:The median level of salary compensation for this role is $ 154,500.00.

Bonus Potential:An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
