Job Description:
We are hiring a Criminal Records Supervisor to oversee our team's activities in updating and maintaining accurate and complete criminal history records. You will evaluate processes, compile data, and provide procedural and technical training. A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field, at least 5 years of experience in criminal identification records activities, and supervisory experience are required. Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Experience supervising, leading, or coordinating other workers, and post high school coursework, training, or experience in criminal justice, business, computer science, communications, accounting, law, data systems management, or related administrative field.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous, proven supervisory experience over teams of four or more. Great attention to detail, and time management skills. Criminal Justice background experience or Criminal Justice degree. A working knowledge of Nebraska computerized criminal justice systems such as PCH, JUSTICE, NCJIS, etc. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office word processing tools and spreadsheets, office equipment and computer hardware. Exceptional customer service, including the ability to handle inbound and outbound calls from customers and agencies.

Applicants will be screened for a record of criminal activity and criminal history using a fingerprint-based check, before a final offer of employment is made. Applicants must be free of felony convictions. Applicants cannot maintain a continuous association or dealings with persons, groups, or organizations that they know, or should know are persons or groups or organizations under criminal investigation or indictment or who have a reputation for present, ongoing involvement in felonious or criminal behavior. Applicant must successfully complete an extensive background screening prior to being employed, which includes completion of a Personal History Questionnaire. Selection process will include an interview.

Knowledge of:

  • Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and time management
  • Knowledge of manual and automated methods for data collection and analysis
  • State Patrol policies and procedures pertinent to the collection and analysis of data
  • Legislation, policies, and standards governing the mission and/or programs of the State Patrol
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, applicable State Statutes, principles of public information
  • Must be able to interpret and apply state and federal laws and standards, and State Patrol rules, policies, and procedures with regard to criminal history background and automated fingerprint information system AFIS checks
  • Summarize statistical, program and administrative data into research reports and publications
  • Design and implement research projects within organizational constraints and resource limitations
  • Apply quantitative methods to analyze and interpret data
  • Identify trends and critical elements of operations for immediate supervisor and other management officials
  • Communicate effectively to direct the exchange of criminal history information to collect, analyze, interpret and report individual records to requesting parties
  • Adapt with current procedures

  • Interact and maintain a working relationship with diverse individuals
  • Communicate and interact with the public and members of the criminal justice community
  • File and record information using numerical, alphabetical and other records keeping systems
  • Gather, compile, generate and disseminate information
  • Learn information sharing processes and forms used by requesting agencies, law enforcement, and criminal justice agencies
  • Learn agency policies and procedures pertinent to the work assigned
