Job Summary

Takes inventory of supplies and places orders as necessary to maintain stock levels. Initiates requisitions to maintain a managed cleaning material stock, and then receives, inspects, stocks or dispatches materials for the IUB Facilities Operation. Responsible for the maintenance of inventory parts and vendor catalogs in the MMS/AiM system and produces system reports. Performs system corrections not limited to part description, reorder points, and bin locations. Executes inventory cycle counts on an annual and ad hoc basis. Keeps secure a high valued inventory which includes periodic checks of capital assets. Performs customer service duties with Building Services Management Team via phone, radio and e-mail. Receives incoming shipments of materials. Unloads deliveries and accepts based on quality and condition. Revises issue factors, bins and inventories part information when needed. Maintains storage closest in multiple buildings across IUB Facilities. Prompt response and follow through of material requests via: radio, phone or e-mail. Produces reports using MMS/AiM, Excel and other software. Conduct inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventory. Monitors inventory levels and notifies supervisor of any recommended changes.

Schedules, assigns, and monitors work of custodial workers and/or moving and setup workers. Serves as onsite trainer to explain work procedures and to demonstrate use and care of cleaning equipment. Acts as project leader for routine and non-routine work. Reviews and executes work orders. Guides the work of moving and setup workers in preparation for conferences, meetings, and events. Arranges tables, chairs, and furniture. Sets up public address systems and related equipment. Acts in relief of custodial workers, group leaders, and supervisors, performing custodial duties as needed.

Operates power fork lift to unload and load trucks, rotate stock and move other bulky and/or heavy items in Building Service's storage. Gathers goods and materials from inventory locations as specified by pick list or requisition. Operates van/passenger vehicle to transport mobile crews to various building sites. May operate box truck, packer truck, or forklift.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and one year of experience with demonstrated leadership skills.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner. Knowledge of standard operating procedures for all equipment, materials, cleaning methods, and care and maintenance of such equipment. Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the moving of very large and heavy items. Ability to operate all manual and power cleaning equipment and snow removal equipment. Ability to communicate orally and in written format with custodial personnel and other staff. Ability to effectively lead, direct, instruct, and interact with custodial personnel. Ability to maintain safety certifications and pass required safety training. Ability to use a computer.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful completion of in-house Building Services Division Management Training Program. Valid CDL.

Working Conditions / Demands

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift, move a wide variety of items from one place to another on a frequent basis, including moving furniture for cleaning. Work and stand for long periods of time in performing job assignments. Be able to maneuver in cluttered and congested areas in order to reach surfaces that need cleaning. Must be able to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
