The Customer Technical Support Engineer will work with the global Applications Engineering team to acquire, interpret and compile technical data, write reports, and help prepare presentation materials for in support of our semiconductor and PVD customers. our customers. In addition, the engineer will be required to conduct investigations, experiments, and failure analyses on materials used by PVD customers.

The candidate must be a self-starter who is able to able to conduct investigations and studies with limited supervision. The position requires close cooperation with the Technology & Innovation team, Operations, as well as support the Sales and Marketing teams as needed.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform metallographic and materials analyses on new or existing materials to quantify characteristics critical to the material's performance in customer applications
  • Perform failure analyses on materials to determine modes of failure and help devise solutions to mitigate or eliminate issues
  • Communicate with Applications Engineers, Process Engineering, Quality, and as well as Field Sales Representatives on relevant technical details
  • Compile and interpret data, write reports, and help prepare presentation materials to customers
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or Materials Science-related field
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully participate on technical and/or design projects and teams
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working with PVD materials and/or semiconductor fab experience, preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience participating in Materials Engineering-based product development and/or characterization, a plus
  • Familiar with a manufacturing environment, particularly materials processing, preferred.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required based on business needs
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
