ECS is seeking a Cybersecurity Data Scientist to work in our Fairfax, VA office.

Job Description:
The Cybersecurity Data Scientist is driven by an interest in solving complex business and cyber security problems through data exploration and analysis. They are highly analytically minded and have a robust technical tool kit. They have substantial experience in analytics with a portfolio of successfully executed models. The Data Scientist will be responsible for executing all steps in the modeling process to produce high quality, reproducible results. They will work with cyber security analysts and data engineers to support the development of processes and technologies that solve cybersecurity problems.
The Data Scientist is expected to be an expert in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science. They will be responsible for using data science, statistics, and mathematical methods to solve cybersecurity problems. These models will drive innovative solutions that bring value to cybersecurity organizations. Candidates will be able to thoroughly define a problem statement that addresses cybersecurity requirements, develop an algorithmic approach to solving the problem, and then execute data and algorithmic refinement to create a solution.
The Data Scientist will be involved in all aspects of developing a data science solution. The Data Scientist will work with Data Engineers and Cybersecurity Analysts to ensure that a clear cybersecurity problem is being addressed and that the solution addresses the problem. Good interpersonal skills are required alongside technical skills to manage these critical relationships. The Data Scientist will work as a team member building a complete solution from data collection to action.

Required Skills:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • MS or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related technical field with 4+ years in Data Science related field.
  • Proficient in Python.
  • Knowledgeable in at least two of the following scripting languages: Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript.
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git.
  • Ability to engage multiple stakeholders for data and operational access.
  • Linux and Bash/Command Line experience.
  • 4+ years' experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Visualization skills using R, Python or other languages and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Experience performing data analysis including applying statistics.
  • Maker mindset, coachable, and have an urge to learn/master new technologies and fields.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within and across teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting to large and small audiences
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

Desired Skills:
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance eligible.
  • Previous federal experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting to large and small audiences
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies
  • Analytics, Big Data, and other technical certification(s)
  • Software development background in general purpose languages such as Java, C#, Python, Go, Julia, C, C++, Rust, etc.
  • Big Data Architecture experience
  • Cybersecurity knowledge/experience
  • 4+ years' experience developing and operating data platforms in support of Business Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence and Cloud/Hybrid Computing.
