As a Senior Scientist Bioscience, your role will be focused on the pre-clinical development of engineered human T cells for the treatment of cancer. More specifically, you will be focused on engineering aspects of this endeavor such as the design of synthetic receptors and signaling proteins to modify the function of T cells, design of viral or other gene delivery vectors to integrate these synthetic proteins into cells and carrying out functional assays to characterize the engineered T cells that you make. You will work closely with other members of an exciting new cross-functional team at AstraZeneca focused on the delivery of cutting-edge cell therapies for cancer.

Educational Requirements

  • Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or related discipline with a minimum of one year plus years of industry or post-doctoral experience.


Required Skills
  • Genetic manipulation of primary human immune cells using viral vectors or other gene delivery systems
  • Fundamental understanding of T cell biology
  • Protein engineering expertise
  • Cell culture and cell-based assays with primary human immune cells
  • Flow cytometry


Additional Highly Valued Skills
  • Expertise in synthetic biology and the engineering of cell signaling
  • Direct experience with engineered T cells
  • Experience with in vivo models of adoptive cell therapy for cancer.
