Data Engineer (Specialized in Advanced Database Technologies and Data Orchestration)

Job Description:

Seeking a Data Engineer with a deep specialization in advanced database technologies and expertise in data orchestration and pipelining tools, specifically Prefect and Dagster. This role is pivotal in constructing and maintaining an advanced data architecture that supports sophisticated data operations, enabling scalable analytics, machine learning projects, and real-time data processing.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines, leveraging graph databases (e.g., Neo4j), time series databases, and document databases (e.g., MongoDB) to meet complex data analysis needs.
  • Utilize data orchestration tools such as Prefect and Dagster to automate and manage data workflows, ensuring efficient and reliable data processing across multiple sources and systems.
  • Develop and manage data warehousing solutions, integrating various database technologies for optimal data storage and access.
  • Work collaboratively with data scientists and analytics teams to support data modeling, analysis, and machine learning initiatives with a robust and dynamic data infrastructure.
  • Enforce data quality and consistency with comprehensive data management practices, adapting strategies for graph, time series, and document databases.
  • Document all data architecture designs and processes, providing clarity and guidance for both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience in data engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with graph databases (e.g., Neo4j), time series databases, and document databases (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Proficiency in data orchestration and workflow management using Prefect, Dagster, or similar tools, with a proven track record of automating complex data processes.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or Java, especially in the context of data manipulation and pipeline development.
  • Solid understanding of data pipeline and storage architectures, including experience in integrating diverse database technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.

Over and Above:

  • Experience in cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Azure Cosmos DB, InfluxDB Cloud) and integrating them with data orchestration tools.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and the ability to present complex data in a comprehensible manner.
  • Understanding of data governance, privacy standards, and compliance in relation to data storage and processing technologies.

Compensation:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $171,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
