LOCATION: 250 Miller Place, Hicksville, NY 11801

HOURS: 7:00am - 3:30pm; Monday - Friday

FULL TIME: Benefits eligible

*Fully remote once fully trained on site

Position Summary:

Data Entry Specialists are responsible for entering patient, client, billing into the billing system utilizing typed or through electronic interfaces. Accuracy in this process is critical as it is the fundamental process upon which all laboratory operations are based.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Entering appropriate patient information including patient demographics, insurance information, diagnosis codes provided, and submitting a clean and correct claim.
  • Responsible for identifying diagnosis narrative, no diagnosis provided, and missing information and affixing an edit.
  • Responsible for working eligibility edits, correcting patient, and payer information in accordance with their insurance eligibility.
  • Responsible for working assigned edits on the edit report and following up with anything that is older than 2 weeks.
  • Responsible for reviewing Missing Information edits for accuracy prior to releasing Missing Information Letter to the client.
  • Responsible for entering Missing Information responses received from the client and releasing the claim to bill.
  • Cross train in customer service which consists of answering customer calls and assisting customers as needed.

Education and Experience:
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to type 55 WPM
  • Work independently and be self-motivated
  • Previous medical billing experience helpful but not needed
  • Previous ICD-10 knowledge helpful but not needed
  • Able to handle fast paced environment daily
  • Ability to plan work & prioritize
