Basic Job Functions:

This positionwill be responsible for ensuring availability and quality of Nucor's shared data, along with providing support for other applications and systems as required.Theseresponsibilities include, but arenot limited to:

• Monitoring performance and managing of database systems to provide good response times.
  

• Installing and testing new versions of the database management system (DBMS) and managing projects to migrate databases to new releases.
  
• Controlling access todata in coordination with Active Directory.
  
• Developing, managing, and testing backup and recovery plans.
  
• Capacity planning and performance management and improvement.
  
• Working closely with operations, database programmers, and web developers to ensure database integrity and security.
  

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years work experience in IT related field.
  
• Work experience in a database administration role on Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2 database server, including database backup and recovery experience.
  
• Work experience planning and managing database and database application upgrades and implementations
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technical field
  
• Steel industry or other process industry experience
  
• Work experience with multiple server operating systems, including Microsoft Windows
  
• Systems administration and Disaster Recovery experience
  
• Work experience with Active Directory or LDAP authentication
