Do you enjoy serving and helping people? Apply now to join our Dietary Team at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home where we take care of America's Heroes! Assist with serving meals in our restaurant-style dining room. Flexible hours which is perfect for a part time job or student - our part time staff qualify for tuition reimbursement too! Under general supervision from a Food Service Leader or Supervisor, teammates perform routine work in large volume food preparation, serving, and cleanup tasks in our gorgeous Veterans Home.

Location: Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home, 12505 S. 40th Street, Bellevue, NE 68123

Schedule: Part time, flexible schedules including alternating weekends

Salary: $10.973/hr with increase to $12.00 on July 1st
Examples of Work
Prepares vegetables and fruits for salads, makes sandwiches, arranges and serves food at the service counter. Assists Food Service Cooks in preparing a variety of foods. Operates automatic dishwashing equipment and insures dishes and utensils meet facility standards for sanitation. Push food carts to various areas of the facility. Clean kitchen and dining room areas to include mopping, sweeping floors, empty trash, wipe down walls, tables, and other furnishings. Overtime may be required.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIRMENTS: Coursework, training and/or experience in food preparation, food service or working in a kitchen. Experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: personal hygiene; basic kitchen equipment supplies and utensils; basic food stuffs such as fruits, vegetables, bakery goods, meats and poultry; food preparation procedures for salads, sandwiches, short order items and other routinely prepared foods; facility standards and procedures for the cleaning of dishes, utensils, equipment and facilities; food sanitation and food preparation schedules.

Ability to: read, understand and follow facility kitchen and dining room safety practice; safely use knives and handle hot equipment or utensils; follow written and oral instructions; communicate effectively with facility residents, patients or members; bend, stoop, lift and carry food items, equipment and supplies.
