Do you enjoy working in a fast paced, rapidly changing role? Are you an engineer who can visualize how complex assemblies come together? If so, you may be a good fit for a position as a Dimensional Systems Engineer at GM!

Our Dimensional Systems Engineers work with the studio, manufacturing, DRE's, and suppliers to develop world class designs that manage the variation and meet vehicle level requirements for performance and appearance, a task which is often challenging and rapidly changing. The Dimensional System Engineer is involved from the early phases of a program, working to comprehend risk, understand manufacturing process enablers, evolve designs, and develop/communicate a dimensional strategy that will meet program requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively lead the strategic dimensional integration within and across subsystems, through variation management of product designs and manufacturing processes to achieve vehicle dimensional requirements
  • Execute and support Virtual Analysis of product design and manufacturing processes to predict vehicle build variation
  • Coordination of Global Strategic Dimensional Product Requirements
  • Lead/support Advanced Vehicle Development of Program specific GD&T
  • Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) and mentor in the utilization and application of GD&T
  • Develop and deploy global dimensional engineering methods, processes, standards, and training
  • Responsible to identify and drive dimensional strategies and tolerance allocations to achieve Competitive Best-of-the-Best (CBOB) targets and Dimensional/Vehicle Technical Specifications (DTS/VTS) requirements
  • Identify and define the initial dimensional requirements for purchased components and assemblies and detail them in the Appendix F7 of the program Statement-of-Requirements (SOR)
  • Documentation of In-Plant Assembly Dimensional Requirements to support DTS and functional interfaces (Control Datasets/Drawings)
  • Actively supports the program specific datum coordination and verification of Checking Fixture/Gage execution
  • Support Vehicle Builds and Issue resolution, as required
  • Creation of GD&T in order to communicate Dimensional Strategies

    • BS in Engineering
    • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Design/Release/Manufacturing Experience
    • Product Launch Experience
    • DFSS Green Belt Certification
    • Demonstrated Project Leadership
    • Unigraphics (UG)/ NX
    • Teamcenter Visualization Mock-Up

    Preferred:
    • MS in Engineering
    • ASME Y14.5M - Professional Certification
    • IRT Co-Chair Program Experience
    • DFSS Black Belt Certification
    • BOM Family Owner Experience
    • Advanced Vehicle Development Experience
