Job Role Summary

The Director, Corporate Fleet is responsible for leading and managing the activities related to the corporate fleet for Health and Hospital Corporation (the Corporation) and its divisions, including the Marion County Public Health Department, Eskenazi Health, Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services and Long Term Care. The incumbent's primary responsibilities include overseeing and maintaining the Corporation's motor vehicles, making administrative decisions concerning the overall condition/age of current fleet, and recommending replacements of vehicles and equipment.

Essential Duties

• Formulate and implement procedures for routine vehicle maintenance and non-routine repairs for the Corporation's fleet of vehicles; ensures compliance.
• Collaborate with supervisors and staff on expense reductions for labor a fuel costs.
• Oversee process for purchasing of vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet
• Establish and maintain a schedule for vehicle replacement recommendations
• Managing vehicle licensure and registration
• Drafts and presents reports on department operations and expenses.
• Prepares and implements departmental budget.
• Develop and implement strategies for increasing efficiencies and decreasing costs
• Serve as liaison to General Counsel and outside Counsel on vehicle litigation matters
• Prepare historical documents and information related to vehicle litigation
• Oversee driver compliance for Corporation drivers
• Develops and enforces training, hiring, safety protocols, and policies and procedures for all fleet services staff.
• Responsible for regulatory compliance related to Department of Transportation.
• Communicates with other department managers and department heads for congruence and systematic rollout.
• Monitors performance for operations and administrative adherence, ensuring that the staff complies with municipal/state regulations and safety protocol.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Five years of experience in fleet management with two years in a supervisory role required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of fleet management and operations.
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prepare and adhere to a budget and to monitor and reduce expenses.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Working Enviornment

Special Effort Required:
  • Occasionally required to lift heavy objects, work in awkward or strained positions
  • Occasional periods of stress due to heavy workload, unexpected problems
  • May be required to work irregular hours
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervises fleet managers or as otherwise directed

Working Environment:
  • Noise, grease, etc. associated with work in garage area
  • Occasional hazardous conditions, exposure to weather conditions on emergency service runs
