This is what you will do:

The Director, Field Reimbursement is responsible for leading, and assessing the performance of, assigned Field Reimbursement Managers (FRM). This Director manages various aspects of Field Reimbursement Manager employment experience (e.g recruiting and hiring, training, performance management, administrative, expense management, employee relations and related topics). This Director works closely with cross-functional partners to support all project goals and achieve performance metrics pertaining to access / reimbursement of Alexion products. The Director, Field Reimbursement is the primary "coach" for their assigned FRMs in areas such as reimbursement proficiency, collaboration, and managing casework. The Director, Field Reimbursement is responsible for providing ongoing communication and alignment with cross functional and peer leadership. This Director is responsible for supporting the FRMs in career growth and professional aspirations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensures that all FRMs are committed to keeping patients at the center of our work
  • Will oversee the recruitment, evaluation and selection of the Field Reimbursement Managers
  • Demonstrates a commitment to field coaching and development of FRMs
  • Responsible for executing national, regional and territory strategic planning. This process is built on partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including Patient Services and other collaboration partners
  • Will lead the team in the achievement of goals while ensuring alignment to the corporate strategy and keeping patients first
  • Monitors regional metrics, workload and outputs while ensuring compliance with policies and processes
  • Create and deliver individual development plans and performance appraisals according to Alexion performance management policies and standards
  • Provide administrative oversight; including managing the Field Reimbursement Manager's attendance, approving time off, schedules, expense reports, etc.
  • Fully comply with all laws, regulations and Alexion Health Policies, Code of Conduct, all privacy and data guidelines, relevant state and federal laws and regulations. Ensure direct reports strictly adhere to these policies
  • Partner with Human Resources to help with management of conflict, performance and employee relations on the team; engaging Human Resources when appropriate

You will need to have:
  • Must have a deep understanding of reimbursement processes for commercial and Federal payers, specialty pharmacy, US Market Access landscape, protocols and restrictions
  • Solid problem solving, conflict management, project management and analytical skills
  • Ability to see and communicate the "big picture" to employees and XF partners
  • Ability to analyze complex situations to identify root cause and quickly create solutions with a clear direction
  • Effectively work cross-functionally with a highly collaborative approach
  • Effective at managing a budget
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and expand relationships with key customers and key stakeholders
  • Strong process facilitation, problem solving and analytical thinking abilities to make sound business decisions on a day-to-day basis

  • Documented track record of leading teams that meet/exceed objectives

  • Excellent people management/supervisory skills; strong ability to develop field personnel along with the ability to lead, mentor and coach / develop the team
  • Ability to comprehend, communicate and maintain complex technical/reimbursement/medical terminology
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with a focused attention to detail
  • Ability to display high levels of initiative, effort and commitment to successfully complete projects and assignments.
  • Ability to multitask and successfully operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to deal with people at all levels inside and outside of the company
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude, working proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience.
  • 3 years of management experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Extensive experience with buy and bill and specialty pharmacy.
  • Ability to travel 75% of time to work related meetings and functions (including overnight and/or weekend).
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in a field environment. As is typical of a field-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane; work comfortably in a clinical setting; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem solve; engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.

We would prefer for you to have:
  • MBA degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience with rare disease therapies is preferred.
  • Experience with hematology and nephrology therapies is preferred.
  • Reside in the Eastern US.
