Job Description:

Responsibilities
  • PayPal is seeking an experienced, fintech marketing lawyer to lead its global marketing legal team. The successful candidate will partner across the PayPal enterprise, including with the marketing, communications, and legal teams, as well as the consumer and merchant business units and the global sales team, to support the cutting-edge marketing of PayPal's entire family of brands (including Venmo, Xoom, Honey and others) to its consumer and merchant customers.

The successful candidate will:
  • Partner and collaborate with PayPal's marketing team, including by working closely with PayPal's Chief Marketing Officer and the entire marketing leadership team. And also partner and collaborate with PayPal's communications leadership team.
  • Advise PayPal's merchant and consumer business units as well as PayPal's global sales team, and work alongside PayPal's product and commercial legal teams supporting those business units, on consumer and merchant marketing strategy, campaigns, collateral and the regulatory and legal implications thereof.
  • Manage and oversee a global team of marketing legal professionals.

Required Skills
  • Juris Doctor from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
  • Admitted to, and in good standing with, a State Bar.
  • 10+ years of marketing legal experience either at a law firm or in-house, preferably a combination of both, advising marketing professionals on advertising and promotional marketing matters. 5+ years of experience in advising marketing professionals in the financial services/fintech space is required.
  • Skilled at identifying issues, providing risk-based recommendations, and contributing to strategic business conversations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulations and industry guidelines applicable to mobile, social media, and traditional marketing, including CAN-SPAM, COPPA, TCPA, the FTC Endorsement and Testimonial Guidelines and telemarketing sales rules.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal business clients from various business functions, and at various levels of seniority.
  • Well-organized and capable of managing and prioritizing multiple matters independently under deadline pressure.
