Description:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics for Communications, the Director of Creative Content will assist the Office of Athletic Communications at Hofstra University in all facets of the athletic communications operation, while overseeing all aspects of the department's graphic design, social media, and video content (both live and content creation). In addition, the Director of Creative Content will serve as the primary athletic communications contact and be responsible for the day-to-day operations and duties in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's tennis, as well as one Olympic sport. This position will also serve as the secondary contact for men's and women's basketball.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the development of all Hofstra Athletics graphic design needs for social media, publications, banners, video board displays, and others as assigned.
  • Coordinate all of the athletic department's video content and production. Including the overseeing of live game production and video content creation.
  • Coordinate and schedule all live video and audio productions in conjunction with the conference office and FloSports.
  • Coordinate and develop all of the athletic department's social media strategies.
  • Oversee athletic communications operation in primary sports as well as assist in game operations for other sports as needed, including men's and women's basketball.
  • Assist in the design and upkeep of GoHofstra.com, the official website of Hofstra Athletics.
  • Oversee all content in primary sports for GoHofstra.com.
  • Oversee all social media and video content in primary sports as well as men's and women's basketball.
  • Assist in the creation of other content to be used on GoHofstra.com and various social media channels.
  • Write and edit press releases and game notes in primary sports.
  • Assist in the planning and design of virtual guides and record books.
  • Coordinate press box/row activities in primary sports including staffing and the approval and issuance of credentials.
  • Schedule and oversee press conferences in primary sports as needed.
  • Coordinate all interview requests in primary sports.
  • Serve as athletic communications game manager in primary sports.
  • Update records and statistics in primary sports.
  • Support the athletics department at special events.
  • Assist in the direction of the student-assistant staff.
  • Assist with various assignments from the Hofstra University Athletics Department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two years of experience in athletic media relations.
  • Highly skilled in operating the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proven record of a progressive approach to social and digital media.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong graphic design experience.
  • Exceptional writing ability, including feature story writing.
  • Strong knowledge of video production, both live streaming and on-demand content.
