Job Info

Meeting consumers where they are and actually holding their attention is challenging - especially as they face a constant barrage of advertising. So, how do you reach them? You create a cohesive, integrated brand marketing strategy that authentically connects and engages, and then you deliver a holistic experience they will remember.

Plymouth Rock is seeking a senior marketing leader to drive and advance our media strategy as we continue to scale as a regional insurance carrier. This person will leverage their deep analytical expertise to build a strategic, data-driven marketing team. At Plymouth Rock, we make decisions based on structured, rigorous thinking guided by the scientific process - coupled with relentless experimentation and optimization. Beyond the quantitative aspects, this role also requires a deep partnership with our Creative team to evolve our brand into new territory and position us to connect and grow with new audience segments. We're looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who is passionate about unlocking new opportunities to ensure Plymouth Rock's long-term growth.

As Media Director you will drive strategy, execution and optimization of Plymouth Rock's media budget across all marketing channels. You will play a critical role in driving both awareness and growth across our six states footprint and beyond. This role will report to the Vice President of Direct.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage Plymouth Rock's advertising budget and reporting across Display, Video, Audio, Social, Search and more.
  • Develop a paid channel strategy that ladders back to strategic objectives, including spend by channel, flighting and frequency.
  • Track and report spend and performance by channel as well as communicate media plans, results and optimizations to key internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the media strategy and execution are aligned to company objectives and continually test to deliver on company goals.
  • Work hand in hand with mar tech team to implement tracking and pixels as needed and serve as a thought leader on attribution.
  • Proactively identify and assess new channels to unlock opportunity amongst Plymouth Rock's target market.
About You
  • You are quantitatively driven, but can also take an "art + science" approach in developing a cross-channel media plan.
  • You have impeccable attention to detail, are thorough about action items and push next steps forward.
  • You adapt quickly and are flexible with moving timelines and fast turnarounds.
  • You can work both fast and right and don't view them as trade-offs. You understand when things require precision and accuracy and where 80% gets you to the desired outcome.
  • You stay current with new advances in media, the competitive landscape, and vendor capabilities; leverage that knowledge to influence current and future business plans and strategies; drive media innovation, thought leadership, and best practice sharing throughout the organization.
  • You thrive on being pushed and challenged. You communicate effectively both in written form and live / on your feet - you are not fazed by tough questions in the moment.
  • You are able to bring people along (internally and externally) by explaining big picture strategy, optimizations, numbers, and other tactical decisions. You effectively manage external partners, being both collaborative and respectful, while holding them to deadlines and follow-through.
  • You operate like an owner & expect others to as well. You take personal responsibility and value personal responsibility in others.
Qualifications and Education
  • 5+ years of experience directly managing & mentoring individuals
  • 7+ years of experience in programmatic campaign management in DSPs, Paid Social Platforms, and/or Display Media
  • 10+ years of experience in traditional media buying - specifically across television and radio media advertising
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Problem-solving skills, including finding solutions for issues that have not yet been solved
  • Experience buying remnant and NPE, and on both linear and streaming platforms.
  • Skilled presenter, collaborator, and negotiator
  • Proven ability to work in matrix organizations and external partners & agencies
  • Expertise in translating data into insights

  • Experience buying media on both a national and a regional basis.
  • Experience working at a media agency or consumer focused brand
