Successful Director of Safety and Training will be able to:

  • Develop training materials on equipment use for all the locations.
  • Develop training materials on safety policies and procedures for all locations.
  • Conduct training on equipment use and safety for those locations that do not have an on-site trainer.
  • Collaborate with on-site trainer personnel to refine training program content to ensure content is current and accurate.
  • Conduct new hire orientation on TAS policies and procedures as well as mandated training for employees and supervisors.
  • Develop presentation materials for RFPs as needed.
  • Develop training materials as requested by the Sr. Director of Safety & Security and other members of senior management.
  • Track safety incidents and prepares reports on recordable incidents for the locations.
  • Maintain the Risk Assessment database for the locations and assists the General Managers and designated staff in the development of risk assessments.
  • Provide guidance to local station management on safety topics to share with location personnel.
  • Monitor location operations for auditing purposes and to ensure TAS procedures and policies are being followed in all business line operations.
  • Advise local station management of updated OSHA regulation.
  • Support business development and sales by meeting with current and prospective customers to assess their training needs and performance expectations.
  • On-going management of the company’s safety program.
  • Key contributor to the organization and start-up of multiple business lines at a location.
  • Travel consisting of 20% to 70% of travel depending on the need.
What Do You Need?
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science from a four-year college or university.
  • Over five years up to and including seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Experience objectively coaching employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Knowledge of the California Labor Code.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Knowledge of Ground Service Equipment and operations.
  • Knowledge of Ground Handling operations.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse operations.
  • Strong writing, presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Prior experience in the development and delivery of training materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization including senior leaders.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Eligibility to obtain necessary credentials and clearances.
