Muskegon Community College is a center for lifelong learning that helps people attain their educational goals by offering programs that respond to individual, community, and global needs. MCC is an associate degree-granting institution of higher education and an applied technology leader for high-tech, hands-on training.

With nearly a 100-year history of academic excellence, MCC is a public community college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. With robust student success support, free tutoring, 18 athletic teams, events, clubs, and activities, MCC has an annual, full-time equated student enrollment of approximately 2,300 and an unduplicated headcount of 5,100.

Most recently, Muskegon Community College outranked all other colleges in Michigan for the rate of students who received federal financial aid and then transferred to continue their education at a four-year institution. The college's transfer-out rate was the highest in Michigan, 7 percentage points above the state average, and outpaced the average transfer rate across the nation. MCC is nationally recognized for its liberal arts and occupational programs.

The College has an annual operating budget (general fund) of $44 million and employs about 210 regular full and part-time staff and many adjunct faculty and student assistants. The College also offers 56 Associate degree programs and 29 certificate programs.

The main campus is located on a 111-acre campus in Muskegon which includes the Hendrik Meijer Library & Information Technology Center, Bartels-Rode Gymnasium, Frauenthal Foundation Fine Arts Center (including the Overbrook Theater and Art Gallery), Stevenson Center for Higher Education, the Science Center, the Health and Wellness Center, and the Art & Music Center.

Muskegon Community College also operates the Sturrus Technology Center and Fab Lab in downtown Muskegon and extension centers in Ottawa and Newaygo Counties.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: up to $87,000 Depending on experience

General Description:

Assume the overall responsibility for the efficient and effective management/leadership of Student Success Initiatives on campus. This includes assessment of success measures, and initiatives to ensure we are meeting strategic goals and equity gaps.

Required Skills

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1.Bachelors' degree; Master's degree preferred.

2.Lead, manage, develop and support a cohesive team.

3.Education and experience with broad knowledge of relevant research computer software: Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SPSS, Visio, and Colleague.

4.Experience in creating and analyzing statistical reports.

5.Must be able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records and generate reports.

6.Demonstrated ability to relate to people of all age, race, ability levels, gender identities, and socio-economic backgrounds.

7.Proven oral and written communication skills to interact with other employees.

8.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

9.Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.

10.Flexibility and ability to adapt to a variety of work situations and personalities.

11.Demonstrated use of tact, judgement and discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

12.Willingness to learn preferred reporting tools used by the College.

13.Strong organizational, planning and time management skills; strong analytical and decision-making skills.

14.Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

15.Ability to work evenings and weekends.

16.Highly motivated and solution oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics and dedication to the mission of the college.

17.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a successful team even while multi-tasking.

Essential Function:

1.Direct, lead, assess and report on the coordination of the Academic Care Reports from faculty, staff, and students. Monitor outcome of care reports to support student retention. Monthly, semester, and annual reporting.

2.Coordinate usage and training for additional staff using CRM Advise.

3.Utilize early intervention and support software to identify students experiencing transitional stressors and students with high probability for academic difficulty or drop-out proneness.

4.Create and implement strategic communications to students about services and resources.

5.Provide direct, intrusive, ongoing, transformative academic support coaching with students.

6.Assist students in learning strategies to increase study skills and time management skills.

7.Meet with high-risk students each term to create individualized success plans and accountability/progress markers.

8.Oversee the services, communications and budget for student support services including the Jayhawk Hub, Jayhawk Hub Advisory Committee, and Debt Forgiveness program.

9.Ensure all procedures for budget, application, and processing for all student support programs including but not limited to the Emergency Book Fund, Technology Loaner program and Student Success Emergency Funds.

10.Create connections with outside organizations to cultivate relationships with MCC.

11.Lead and/or participate in teams as appropriate.

12.Assist in the development of evidence-based, best-practice educational sessions for students and administers programming related to time management, fiscal management, and academic behaviors, i.e., study strategies, note taking, etc.

13.Work collaboratively with college faculty and staff to develop, deliver, and evaluate effective retention efforts.

14.Participate in College events.

15.Lead by example, attend, contribute and engage with College and Student Services meeting/committees and staff meetings

16.Perform other duties as assigned.
