The Director of AFC Client SOC is responsible for leading a 24x7 team of security experts for one more global fortune 500 clients. This position will oversee delivery of the Optiv vision to redefine traditional SOC (Security Operations Center) operations using automation, orchestration, analytics and other tools, frameworks, or capabilities to provide a modern, professional, continuously improving, and quality driven SOC.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to the oversight of day-to-day operations for the AFC SOC operations team for specific clients, maturing processes and driving new innovations. This position will also be responsible for driving mature and repeatable service delivery methodologies. The position is a high visibility role and requires a strong technical leader with outstanding customer service skills capable of planning and executing to meet core objectives.

How you'll make an impact:


    • Lead 24x7 SOC team, foster innovation, and drive accountability within SOC operations
    • Program management: Task tracking, assignment, and prioritization within the SOC
    • Process Improvement: Influence and improve upon existing processes through innovation and operational change
    • Innovation: Be a thought leader in SOC operations - Automation, analytics, technology management, cloud expansion, and advanced threat analysis


    • Oversee Technical Delivery
    • Regularly meet with Client(s) and delivery teams to ensure regular oversight of progress, quality, and overall client satisfaction.
    • Communicate client concerns, questions, conflicts, and resolution to Optiv Leadership.
    • Leads cross-functional priority setting and resource allocation relative to each program, project and/or initiative.
    • Ensure processes (both Optiv and Client) are adhered to and support operational excellence


    • Recruit and Develop resources
    • Establish an ongoing education and training plan for SOC resources
    • Develop and mentor staff through open communication, training and development opportunities, and performance management processes
    • Foster innovation, creativity, collaboration, and professional growth of the SOC team


    • Establish operational foundations
    • Develop and administer SOC processes to drive governance, threat analysis and platform management
    • Define and deliver metrics/KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)/SLAs (Service Level Agreements) at the organizational and individual level to measure overall quality and efficiency within operations
    • Influence and improve upon existing processes through innovation and operational change

Qualifications for success:
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a SOC leadership position.
    • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a consulting or managed services role, or related information security positions.
    • Ability to travel 30% of the time to client sites.
    • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in Information Assurance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related area of study; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • OSCP, OSCE, GIAC, CISSP, or CISM certifications strongly preferred


    • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects using well-defined methodology across various security assessment disciplines including:
    • Ability to work with the client to create a strategic vision (tools, platforms, and services), and then manage a team to execute against that strategic vision with adjustments along the way as required to maintain a stable and secure environment. Vulnerability management systems
    • Ability to quickly build relationships within the client teams and build bridges across teams where they don't exist today.
    • Ability to deliver executive level presentations to clients covering the overall status of their security environment required.
    • Full awareness of commercial and open-source security tools required (e.g., EDR, SIEM, Analytics, SOAR, malware, various assessment tools).
    • Strong knowledge of cloud security capabilities and ability to manage large SIEM deployment, upgrades, and expansions in a cloud environment.
    • Familiarity with many different security architectures and frameworks, network architectures, network services, system types, network devices, and development platforms required.
    • Must be able to work well with customers and self-manage through difficult situations, focus on client satisfaction.
    • Demonstrated effective time management skills, ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to take on large and complex projects with little or no supervision required.
    • Ability to convey complex technical security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences including executives required.
    • Ability to work both independently as well as on teams required.
    • Ability to lead and mentor others required; willingness to collaborate and share knowledge with team members required.
    • Motivation to constantly improve processes and methodologies required.
    • Passion for process improvement and automation to make common tasks more efficient required.
    • Experienced at writing or editing technical proposals, statements of work, white papers, presentations, and project documentation; strong attention to detail is required.
    • Knowledge of programming and scripting for development of security tools required.
    • Understanding of threats and attack vectors preferred.
