Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned, highly motivated software development leader to join our CGM mobile app development team in our San Diego, CA office as Director of Product Health. You will be leading and managing a team of data scientists, customer success managers and investigators. Your team will dig deep into issues and concerns raised by Tech Support or Data Analysis and discover causes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee response to App and Platform production health issues
  • Oversee Customer Advocacy to drive resolution of production issues
  • Develop product health data services, process standards, best practices and benchmarks
  • Interface with software test to ensure high quality product and champion best practices for software development
  • Work closely with product development teams to drive product health and data management oriented architecture and designs (e.g. immutable infrastructure, instrumented apps, health indications, ...)
  • Manage the Incident Management Process driving incident resolution
  • Manage root-cause and corrective action responses to incidents and production issues
  • Support Quality with data analysis for CAPAs, HHAs,
  • Support Dexcom's quarterly and monthly reporting systems.
  • Develop and extend automated monitoring systems to ensure ongoing product health
  • Build advanced data analytics for product health management using cutting edge AI and machine learning analytics tools
  • Define and manage Data Management oversight and governance for both Internal (Dexcom) and external (partner) data sources
  • Provide managerial oversight and lead data science engineers to drive proactive detection of App and Platform production health
  • Build a high-performance team culture including hiring and retaining best brightest talent to drive team responsibilities and goals.
  • Lead team to investigate product issues - with a focus on creativity, accuracy, and flexibility.
  • Lead & mentor a team of individuals with diversified skills.
  • Manage the careers of the individuals on your team and ensure their continued development
  • Own organization and staffing for a segment of application engineering resources. Recruit and retain high-caliber software talent.
  • Deliver resource strategy and plans, including use of 3rd parties/partners, etc., in support of development and support activities
  • Manage budget and report on expenditure.
  • Have a collaborative style working with business and executive stakeholders to communicate and drive charter for Product Health, Incident Management & Data Management
  • Work with marketing, regulatory, quality, engineering, technical support and legal to understand and resolve issues with the product.
  • Communicate to executive stakeholders on Product Health, Incident Management & Data Management issues, progress and strategy.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's or Bachelor's in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering
  • 9+ years proven experience as a Software Manager or similar role
  • Proven success managing teams
  • Experience in an investigative role
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - both inside and outside R&D
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity using relevant, modern, software test tools and equipment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Medical Technology
  • Experience with mobile development
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Experience working in a role that requires influence without authority
  • Experience working with Apps that support physical products, systems
  • Demonstrated Class I, Class II and Class III medical device submission experience related to diabetes
  • Demonstrated successful track record of building & deploying software for complex life science and/or medical instrumentation systems
  • Knowledge of or experience with public/private cloud services and environment

Functional Description

Directs the activities of a software applications development function for software application enhancements and new products. This position oversees the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of computer programs for commercial or end user applications. Analyzes and investigates applications engineering tasks and prepares design specifications, analysis, and recommendations. Interacts with project managers, marketing, sales, and users to define application requirements and/or necessary modifications.

  • Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.

  • Manages the activities of a functional area and/or external service providers.
  • People management responsibilities include hiring / terminations, performance reviews, career development coaching and compensation decisions.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree with 15+ years of industry experience.
  • 9+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry.

Workplace Type

  • The Workplace Type for this role is Assigned Desk. Based on the nature of your role you will have an assigned desk or office located at a Dexcom site and should plan to be onsite approximately 4-5 days per week.
