  • The Trailer OEM Account Manager raises the profile of Watson & Chalin products with small trailer OEMs, Installers, End Users, and other potential customers to make them aware of the advantages in specifying Watson & Chalin products and also works with these customers to resolve customer concerns relating to product performance. This position also coordinates and augments the Hendrickson sales force and frequently travels to interface with purchasing, engineering, marketing departments.
    • Essential Functions:
    • Contact fleet accounts, end users, installers, and OEM's to influence their decisions to specify Watson & Chalin products.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with users and potential users.
    • Coordinate efforts to correct any customer concerns relating to product application and performance.
    • Review recommended service procedures with users.
    • Conduct service training.
    • Identify End User applications appropriate for testing components on suspensions.
    • Identify past users of our products and from whom they are now purchasing; develop strategic plans to regain business.
    • Support marketing on new pricing announcements and securing commitment from applicable customers.
    • Contact Trailer OEMs, trailer suspension installers, and dealers (trailer) to promote Watson & Chalin products, influence the sale of products, and support OEM dealers using our products.
    • Sales Managers and sales professionals, Service Managers, and district professionals:
    • Review current product and introduce new product offerings:
    • Recommend suspension models for specific operations or applications.
    • Advise Parts Manager of specific end user needs in geographic area and programs available.
    • Assist in correcting field problems.
    • District Sales Managers and District Sales Engineers:
    • Recommend suspensions for specific operations or applications.
    • Introduce new product offerings.
    • Coordinate to resolve field complaints; recommended repair procedures.
    • Present information to distributors describing trailer product offerings, appropriate applications for products, pricing, and competitive advantages.
    • Assist in specifications of proper product for specific application.
    • Provide information regarding installation methods and service procedures.
    • Supervise installations as required.
    • Identify fleet contacts and coordinate responses.
    • Assist in credit and collection activities and in resolving billing and invoicing issues.
    • Effectively manage product, customer, and competitor information through administration, data gathering, and communication:
    • Monitor competitive activity in marketplace and report to the division.
    • Competitor data including new product offerings, price trends, incentives, customer penetration, product performance, and competitive wins and losses.
    • Forecast inputs, e.g., major fleet purchases.
    • Customer and product requirements.
    • End User Contact Report.
    • Other duties
    • Represent Watson & Chalin at industry trade shows.
    • Participate in state and local associations as assigned.
    • Represent Watson & Chalin as an OEM Account Manager for selected Trailer accounts.

Education and Training
  • High School diploma/ GED
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
Minimum Qualifications
  • Five years territory sales required.
  • Experience in selling in the heavy-duty truck/trailer industry is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates must have significant industrial sales/marketing experience if no experience in truck/trailer industry.
Skills & Abilities
  • Requires strong written, verbal, interpersonal skills.
  • Strong presentation skills are required including use of presentation software.
  • Strong territory management skills.
  • Position requires significant travel by car and air; approximately 3 nights on the road per week.
  • Attention to detail.
Physical Demands
  • Physical Requirements (standing, lifting, repetitive tasks)
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to extreme heat and extreme cold while in the plant.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
