Overview:

The Domestic Violence Consultant is a part of a multi-disciplinary team. The consultant collaborates with child welfare staff to make enhanced case work decisions about Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence services for cases that may involve abuse, neglect and maltreatment.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Review and assess Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence referrals received from the Child Protection Specialist team
  • Work with other disciplines to provide cross-disciplinary consultations for complex cases when necessary.
  • Meet weekly productivity requirements.
  • Attend child safety and other conferences.
  • Model for ACS staff, effective strategies for engagement, assessment and problem solving, through direct contact with ACS clients with CPS present in the office and in the field.
  • Develop and deliver trainings to ACS staff designed to improve their knowledge about Domestic Violence and Intimate Partner Violence
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation in ACS Connections case records.
  • Maintain the JB tracking log for requested and completed consults
  • Identify community resources, establish linkages and follow up with service providers as necessary
  • Work with Team Coordinator to create relationships with outside service providers
  • Assist Team Coordinator in conducting ongoing needs assessments in the field office.
  • Provide coverage for other offices as needed.
  • Attend weekly supervision
  • Work a hybrid schedule.

EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • LMSW, LCSW, Licensed or MA in Human Service field or relevant degree and experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Working within diverse communities.
  • Direct practice with families using a family therapy model.
  • Agreement to work a flexible schedule
  • Comfortable with group supervision and commitment to work on professional development goals to improve adherence

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Have a strong knowledge of the Impact of trauma on children and families.
  • Domestic violence and / or substance knowledge
  • Knowledge of the child welfare system preferred.
  • Willingness to work the New York City Holiday schedule.
