The Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency has an exciting opportunity for a Donor Management Coordinator 3. The incumbent in this position will provide Donor Management Coordinator (DMC) staff with guidance on clinical donor management to keep patients stable while maximizing the number of organs procured per consented donor. Provide assistance and supervision to the DMC staff assigned in all clinical aspects of donation process to assure strict adherence to LAORA policy and procedures, regulatory agency standards, and generally accepted industry best practices. Perform duties and responsibilities as a Donor Management Coordinator I, and II as needed and determined by monthly schedule. (See job descriptions of Donor Management Coordinator I and II). Serves as 12-Hour Administrator-On-Call for Donor Management Coordinator approximately 15 times per month or on an as needed basis in times of critical staff shortage. Designated Requestor and Referral Responder staff as designated by the predetermined schedule to assist Director of Clinical Operations and Organ Procurement Manager in the same.

Moderates Daily Activity Review Teleconference (DART) as part of AOC duties during which all potential donor patients are reviewed as follows: Patient clinical status, family dynamics, staff dispatch plan, performance benchmarks/metrics, etc.

Performs as a LAORA Designated Requestor duties in the absence of other available LAORA DR staff on a case-by-case basis as assigned by the DMC Manager.

Performs Advanced Practice Coordinator procedures and donor management techniques in the absence of other available LAORA DMC staff on a case-by-case basis.

Responds on-site to potential donor referrals called in to LAORA service in all Donor Service Area Hospitals as soon as possible within the confines of: Dade, Monroe, Broward, Collier, Palm Beach, St. Lucie counties and the Common Wealth of the Bahamas.

Communicates with the AOC on all donor and referral activity to evaluate donation suitability based on information collected from the patient's hospital chart, current health status, dialogue with hospital staff, and physical examination.

Performs an independent assessment of potential cadaver donors to ensure donor meets medical criteria for donation, e.g ., evaluate suitability and appropriateness of organ donation.

Formulates donor maintenance plan in collaboration with AOC and LAORA Medical Director to preserve transplantable organs on the basis of available clinical knowledge.

Collaborates, coordinates, and implements donor maintenance plan with hospital personnel prior to and upon brain death pronouncement.

Reports pertinent clinical information that may be relevant to donation process and recipient centers to AOC and/or LAORA Medical Director in a timely manner.

Ensure organs for transplantation are appropriately preserved from the time of Brain Death and/or consent is obtained in accordance with donor management protocols and Florida Statutes.

On-call duties for DMC are on a rotation basis which consists of 12-hour shifts (night shift is 7p-7a, day shift is 7a-7p) as designated by the DMC Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Nursing or Medical related field. Five years relevant work experience. Critical Care/Intensive Care Experience Any appropriate combination of education, certifications and/or related experience will be considered.
  • Credentials/Licensure: CPTC Required . Credentialed as RN (preferred), CRT, Foreign MD, EMT/Paramedic, etc. with ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications
