The University Museums consists of Picker Art Gallery and the Longyear Museum of Anthropology. Reporting to two co-directors, this position will have primary responsibility for supporting student engagement and programming for both museums. They will work alongside colleagues whose roles also span the two museums and their collections. The University Museums are at an exciting point in their history. As a key component of Colgate's ambitious Middle Campus Plan for Arts, Creativity, and Innovation, our team is currently envisioning and redefining how academic museums fit into the contemporary liberal arts experience and into the cultural fabric of the regional communities into which the campus is embedded. Our strategic plan prioritizes implementing decolonizing practices across museum operations, creating a more inclusive and accessible program, increasing student and faculty engagement, enhancing collaborations on and off campus, and developing collections that represent a wider range of identities and experiences.
Accountabilities:The Education and Engagement Coordinator plays a supporting role in promoting student engagement with the museums, assisting with the coordination of museum programming, and overseeing student employees and ambassadors.
