Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel, a Fortune 100 Company and recently named Fortune's best workplace in Manufacturing and Production is seeking candidates for our internship program in our Auburn, NY location. The successful candidate will possess a basic knowledge of electrical principles.
Planned projects are listed, but not limited to:
- Develop a thorough and comprehensive understanding of electrical safety
- Work alongside Nucor electricians performing preventive and corrective maintenance
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the various control systems throughout the Rolling mill & Melt shop
- Data collection for Arc Flash studies and CMMS implementation
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Participation in a course of study in Electrical Technology, with an emphasis on 3 phase power and/or circuit analysis and control systems.
- GPA of 3.0 or better in Electrical Courses
- Written recommendation from advisor
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferences:
- Second year student
- Completion of a safety course(s)
- Practical work experience
