Electrical Engineer

Role purpose (position scope):

Primary responsibilities include providing support for problem solving of assembly/test issues through investigation and research. Experienced in continuous improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma,) design for manufacture, production readiness, and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and test stability improvement.
  • Process development and capability studies.
  • FRACAS and root cause analysis in factory and supplier environments.
  • Participate in DFx, NPI and production readiness reviews.
  • Basic design, commission and debug process assembly/test equipment.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, writing test and assembly procedures, and training assembly personnel
  • Provides technical expertise and interpretation of Electrical Schematics, mechanical drawings of products to assist in the assembly, inspection, and test and troubleshooting moderately complex products (circuit card through top level).
  • Leads in analyzing test failures for root causes and corrective actions, prepares failure analysis reports. May be required to design or improve existing card test fixtures and equipment as needed to improve test flows. Statistical analysis application on process capabilities.
  • Application of structured approaches to problem solving, Root Cause Analysis (Ishikawa, Pareto, etc.).
  • Application and use of Lean Six Sigma to manufacturing environment.
  • Support of, and observation of, policies and procedures related to the Quality Management System, and certifications (e.g., AS9100C, etc., NADCAP). Performance management and continuous improvement in:
    • Quality
    • Schedule
    • Cost
  • Supporting Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives through participation in events affecting their particular area of responsibility, with focus on sustaining efforts.


Core Competencies:
  • Knowledge of basic product, test equipment and fixture design
  • Solid knowledge in Electronics; analog, power, digital, and RF communications
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and RF circuits to the component level
  • Familiar with RF test equipment; Spectrum Analyzers, Power meters, signal generators, etc
  • Must have extensive experience writing, reviewing and implementing Engineering Change Orders
  • Ability to be effectively (with minimal direction) recognizes process/performance/test problems and addresses them without waiting to be instructed to do so.
  • Must effectively communicate with Dev. Eng. regarding product performance anomalies and possible Eng. solutions.
  • Must have good report writing abilities, a structured thought process and excellent deductive reasoning skills.
  • MS Office suite: Excel, Visio, Word
  • LabVIEW experience would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace industry standard assembly practices (IPC, J-STD)
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M tolerance standard
  • Read and understand electronic schematics and PCB assembly drawings
  • Apply LeanSix Sigma knowledge.
  • ERP/MES experience desired to generate BOM Structures and Routers.

Level II - Intermediate (Experienced)
  • KNOWLEDGE - Full use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering (or the equivalent combination of education and experience) and 5 years of related experience; Knowledge/exposure to AS9100, FAA and ISO desired; LEAN Six Sigma certification desired
