Job Description:
Assist Product Development electrical engineers in the conceptualization, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing product designs using sound electrical engineering principles in support of company business development efforts, marketing plans and department plans. Analyze specifications, as well as business, technology & cost requirements, and implement appropriate, approved designs in a timely and cost-effective manner. Take steps necessary to ensure product reliability, performance, and customer acceptance.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Under the guidance of the Electrical Engineering Manager and electrical engineers, conceptualize, and develop material handling products using sound electrical engineering principles
- Adhere to suitable design and documentation practices and methodologies
- Support internal and external customers in product use and application as required
- Support vendors in product and sub-component fabrication as required
- Adhere to project timelines and budgets
- Participate in Product Development department and company projects as assigned
- Participate in functional and accelerated life tests to ensure product reliability and performance
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Provide support and documentation to enable company staff to quote and source materials
- Participate in the identification and recommendation of new material handling technology solutions
- Serve as a technical resource to other departments as required
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Develop and maintain organized design documentation
- Create and maintain CAD product detail drawings, adhering to suitable standards
- Create and maintain product bills of material and routings
- Execute engineering change notices as required
- Assist in design and documentation of new and revised electrical circuits
- Provide technical assistance both within and outside the department
- Assist in the design and fabrication of test fixtures
- Assist in the design and fabrication of new product prototype units
- Assist in the testing of new products and revisions including functional, accelerated life, abusive and ultimate tests and prepare associated test reports
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Enrollment in a 4 year Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology degree program
- Highly motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines and high quality requirements
- Strong communication skills (Verbal & Written)
- Problem solving skills
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with test engineering processes/electrical test procedures
- Solidworks/AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Gorbel, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
