Position Summary: LifeMoves | Housing & Employment Department is currently seeking an experienced, motivated and team oriented Employment Specialist. This Employment Specialist will be dedicated to working with our Mountain View Homekey clients, located in Mountain View. Under the supervision of the Associate Program Director of Employment Services, the Employment Specialist acts as a strong support system for clients in their employment search. The goal of the Employment Specialist is to assist clients to successfully secure stable employment that ultimately leads to stable housing and self-sufficiency. Their responsibilities include developing and implementing individual employment plans for a caseload of clients, working collaboratively with the clients' primary case manager, as well as assisting the Associate Program Director of Employment Services with other program tasks.

Employment Specialist

  • Develop, implement and revise individual employment plans and consistently monitor progress toward client goals
  • Provide on-going supportive functions in accordance with the employment plan
  • Act as liaison for LifeMoves and our community partners
  • Communicate appropriately and as needed with clients, case managers and community partners
  • Stay current and knowledgeable about external community resources, referrals and service linkages
  • Assist clients with resume building, cover letter assistance, professional development and navigating employment resources
  • Facilitate at least one employment workshop a month
  • Ability to manage caseload of at least 15 clients
  • Knowledge of online employment resources (Indeed, Glassdoor, Snagajob, etc.)
  • In collaboration with Manager, develop relationships with external partners to provide linkage between resources and agencies
  • Maintain client and program records in accordance with applicable standards and policies
  • Maintains a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, dual-relationships, and professional stature
  • Participate in continuing education activities, remaining knowledgeable in area(s) of expertise
  • Attend weekly case consultation meetings and monthly trainings; meet regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information and receive supervision
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or related field, with a minimum of one year case management/specialist experience
  • Knowledge utilizing Microsoft Programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Excel)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate with community partners
  • Understanding of the issues faced by homeless individuals and other marginalized populations in crisis
  • Availability to work occasional evenings
  • Experience working with people with severe mental illness, homeless individuals, and populations in recovery
  • An understanding of ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity and inclusion; and a commitment to ongoing professional development in this area.
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking is a plus
