As a Corporate Automation Engineer at Mauser Packaging Solutions, you will be responsible for automation and control systems design, specifications, programming and simulation of production equipment.

As part of our team responsible for improving the use of automation in our facilities, you will collect task data, create project schedules, track progress and prepare updates relative to installation or continuous improvement of existing production equipment.

The essential duties and responsibilities for our Corporate Automation Engineer include but are not limited to:

  • Provide Leadership and Strategic directions regarding NASP use of Automation and lowering our dependency on labor to fulfill our needs.
  • Develop plans for testing and debugging automation equipment while applying knowledge of engineering technology as necessary.
  • Program, troubleshoot and evaluate any design considerations on new equipment.
  • Design engineering solutions that meet the manufacturing facilities requirements while monitoring budget constraints in order to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency.
  • Assist in the preparation of the scope of a project, cost justification and AFE (overall cost proposal) to senior management for approval as required.
  • Maintain awareness of and controls project cost, quality, scope and schedule to ensure on time delivery of projects within internal budgets. Prepares any necessary progress reports.
  • Lead or participate in engineering design reviews as required and requested by Management.
  • Conduct R & D activities concerned with integration and testing of electronic/mechanical components and systems and in development of applications.
  • Apply mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production equipment.
  • Work with maintenance department to ensure preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Program software to configure and/or make modifications to automated systems and process control systems, which will include maintaining a backup library of robotic, PLC and other instrumentation software.
  • Evaluate, select and coordinate with outside vendors for design, machining and fabrication of tooling and systems.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or minimum of 10 years equivalent
  • Experience with hydraulics, robotics, electrical systems, automation
  • Experience with stamping, welding and palletizing a plus
  • Strong MS Office, Visio, Inventor, Auto Cad, RSLogix 500 or 5000
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC, industrial sensors and pneumatic systems
  • Excellent analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Has the ability to multi-task, prioritize in a fast-paced environment
