Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role
Mobile Engineering Manager role resides in an FPX organization called the Consumer Credit team that enables Buy Now Pay Later and Revolving Credit products for our consumers. You will build out scalable solutions, and seamless experiences in partnership with other consumer credit engineering, product, and UED teams.

  • Manage a team of mobile engineers providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to ensure high-quality deliverables and career growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and other cross-functional teams to drive the development and launch of new mobile products and features.
  • Care deeply about codequality, bringing an enthusiasm for using the bestpractices ofscalability,accessibility,maintenance,observability,automation testingstrategies, and documentation into everyday development.
  • Lead and participate in technical, design, and product discussions with leaders across the organization to drive the right decision-making for the long term.

Your day-to-day
  • Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering their growth and guiding their contributions.
  • Develop efficient processes, ensuring the engineering team is operating with high velocity, and always look for opportunities to continuously improve and become better every day.
  • Partner with product owners to define and promote engineering and product strategies to influence the direction of Consumer credit mobile teams.
  • Advocate for best practices in code quality, documentation, and overall engineering excellence

What do you need to bring
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in building and leading mobile engineering (iOS, Android) teams with a track record of success in launching mobile apps and features.
  • 8+ years of experience as an engineer in building applications preferably on mobile platforms
  • Exceptional communication skills and experience balancing diverse priorities fairly and transparently. Ability to navigate difficult conversations, both on your team and with stakeholder teams
  • A history of orienting teams and setting strategy toward engineering goals, with a bias toward impact and velocity
  • A passion for improving developer productivity and a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive engineering culture.
  • Experience managing complex systems, with the pattern recognition to make high-level architectural decisions but also the ability to weigh in on implementation questions.
  • Experience turning strategies and plans into reality, partnering with product and design to scope, plan, and prioritize work and a commitment to continuous improvement (yourself, your teammates, our software)
  • An eye for design or an ear for the customer; engineering makes substantive contributions to product definition.
  • Strong empathy for consumers and merchants that PayPal serves and an interest in building products that better serve them.
