As an Engineering Trainee you willwork under the guidance of a manager or supervisor, fulfilling various tasks ranging from assisting staff with new projects, offering suggestions on existing methods, conducting research, writing reports, and managing data.

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter:

  • Assist project managers in managing and overseeing multiple capital projects from their inception through their completion simultaneously.
  • Help to coordinate and develop a clear project scope and cost estimate in conjunction with the proper teams.
  • Communicate effectively with Operations, Quality, Tech Services, Marketing, and other internal teams to ensure that project design and layout is satisfactory, and timelines are met.
  • Assist and provide technical support around energy savings and effluent reduction within the plants.
  • Understand federal, state, and local regulatory compliance issues within the dairy industry, which will cover environmental, equipment, and structural requirements (e.g., USDA, FDA, WDA, OSHA, EPA, NFPA).
  • Working closely with staff to foster professional values and build good relationships.
  • Observing health and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Attend various mandatory safety and departmental meetings.
  • Perform other duties as required and requested by project managers.

You Are Best Suited for The Role If You....

  • Have a degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Have previous internship and/or working experience (preferred).
  • Have exposure in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project (preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (required).
  • Have knowledge of fluids, dairy chemistry, and thermal processes.
  • Understand accounting principles (i.e., fixed assets, depreciation, capital expense, etc.).
  • Can work in a team environment as well as independently, with good time management, and organizational skills.
  • Have a working knowledge of environmental issues (i.e., effluent, BOD, COD, etc.).
  • Have the ability to work scheduled hours and required overtime as needed.
  • Display traits of reliability, honesty, respect, attention to detail, and punctuality.
  • Can communicate effectively and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and positively represents and promotes Saputo at all times.
