The team is responsible for architecting, creating, and maintaining public/gov cloud tenancies for NWRDC, internally and for external customers. These environments can be located in any cloud space.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for providing the technical direction and architecture to design, implement, and manage highly advanced and complex enterprise server, storage, infrastructure, and networks for NWRDC and its City, State, College, University and K-12 customers. Provides technical expertise on complex applications and problems to NWRDC and its customers. Assists customers in the design and architecture of NWRDC's offerings. These may be NWRDCs on premise cloud solutions or through NWRDCs public cloud offerings such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.

Assists in the design of integrated solutions for complex systems comprised of multiple technologies including physical and virtual servers, SAN or NAS based storage, various virtual hypervisors, networking components, and public/private cloud offerings. Acts as custodian of the system architecture process that interfaces with project, program, and service managers to provide guidance on the scope and direction of solutions. Formulates and defines system specifications and objectives through analysis of technology trends and NWRDC and Customer needs. Ensures quality control by ongoing testing and feedback from the NWRDC customer community.

Serve as project manager for initiated services with new customers, ensuring the transition is handled in a smooth and timely manner across all services. Work with managers in developing and documenting processes for initiating services with new customers. This work includes building new quotes/estimates for services.

Coordinate with Leadership and service managers on efforts to keep NWRDC technology base current and up to date. Develop both technical and budget plans for technology refresh programs. Investigate new technologies that could be of possible benefit to NWRDC and its Customers. Coordinate with vendors on new technologies

Participates in an after-hours support and/or team on-call rotation in support of a 24x7 data center. Other duties as assigned.

Participates in approved professional development opportunities per NWRDC's policy. Professional development and training is defined as learning undertaken by the employee to maintain and advance their skills, knowledge and competencies, specifically as they relate and add value to the job and workplace.

NWRDC provides support for a wide range of state and local government, as well K-20 organizations across the State of Florida. These organizations are dependent on NWRDC in order to accomplish their missions. This requires NWRDC to maintain services 24x7, even during times of crisis or emergency. As such, all NWRDC staff are considered essential staff for operations of the State of Florida.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and six years' experience or a high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to ten years'? (Note: post-high school education may substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to meet project deadlines.

Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.

Ability to utilize problem solving and technical skills.

Ability to deduce root causes of problems amidst extraneous details.

Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal to moderate supervision.

Knowledge of information technology security measures.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
