The University of Miami School of Law Environmental Law Program (ELP) is pleased to announce that it is hiring an Environmental & Climate Law Fellow. The position is anticipated to begin August 1, 2024.

Core Job Summary:

The Environmental & Climate Law Program Fellow will support the Environmental Law Program through research, programming, and student support.

Key Areas of Responsibilities and Specific Job Tasks

  • This position includes co-teaching at least one course in the first year. Expected in year two, the position will teach and/or co-teach courses which will include a seminar on an environmental law subject. We anticipate that the fellow will also oversee student research projects.
  • Organizing and implementing ELP programs, including workshops, conferences, networking events, outings, and webinars.
  • Coordinating and facilitating ELP initiatives, including field courses, UN climate change treaty participation, specialized environmental law short courses. This will include international and domestic travel.
  • Supervising the annual student environmental moot court teams and similar student activities.
  • Supporting research and writing by students and faculty. This could include working with students and faculty on press releases, white papers, and articles.
  • Supporting and growing the ELP's campus and community networks, through outreach, social meeting, and program development.
  • Working with the ELP Faculty Director to identify priorities for research, outreach, and programming.

Education required:

A JD, LLM, or SJD.

Experience Required:
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experiencein the field ofenvironmental, energy, or natural resources law or policy
  • Excellent research andwriting skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills, including evidence of strong prioritization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Prior experience in organizing events
• Experience in legal or environmental research

• A research agenda in environmental, climate, natural resources, or energy law.

Salary and Benefits:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is a non-tenure track appointment that is for one year, with the option of renewal for a second year.
