JOB SUMMARY

The School of Business is seeking a full-time Executive Director of MBA Programs (Educational Program Manager 3).  The incumbent will report to the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs (with a dotted line to the Academic Program Directors) and will provide advanced program management, supervise program development, and oversee day-to-day delivery of program content for all School of Business MBA programs.  The position will be based in Hartford, but will require regular travel to Stamford and Waterbury, in addition to occasional travel to other campuses or external locations.  Evenings and weekends will also be required in support of program activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the planning and implementation of all MBA programs and having responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of program content.  Regularly collaborating and ensuring transparency with Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, Academic Directors and Department Heads. 
  • Directing the day-to-day operation and administration of the MBA programs in accordance with departmental and program goals and objectives. Possessing accountability for program coordination and logistics.
  • Facilitating work between units within the School and at the University level to ensure continuity of programmatic services.  Determining ways to gain efficiencies within and across programs.
  • Selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating professional and temporary staff, including career counselors. 
  • Developing budget recommendations and overseeing the management of approved program budgets.
  • Overseeing the student recruitment process; assessing educational needs of target population and recommending courses of action to meet those needs.
  • Collaborating on public relations and promotional activities of the programs, including planning and development of strategies.
  • Overseeing the program admissions processes. 
  • Developing, administering, and evaluating workshops, training programs, courses or curricula, in accordance with program goals.
  • Ensuring the quality of student services and interactions.  Continuously evaluating student satisfaction and working with program directors, managers and staff to enhance make improvements where needed.
  • Working with departments, centers and external parties to provide student experiential learning activities.
  • Provides guidance to career counselors in their role with student internship and job search strategies. 
  • Overseeing the planning, coordination and execution of special events.
  • Serving as a resource and specialist to students, staff, faculty, and others on matters relating to program policies, procedures, and activities. 
  • Evaluating effectiveness of academic program services and policies through the coordination, collection, reporting, analysis and dissemination of program data, including but not limited to student, employer, rankings, and assessment of learning surveys.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Six years of related experience. One year must be serving as a supervisor of a moderate sized graduate program charged with carrying out cross-disciplinary tasks or functions. 
  • Demonstrated administrative, organizational and financial management skills, including experience identifying, analyzing and resolving day-to-day program problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience taking initiative, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and making decisions using sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing the coordination, planning and execution of large events.
  • Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and administrators as well as external agencies/groups and the public.
  • Proven ability to successfully recruit and counsel a diverse body of students, with an advanced understanding of principles and practices related to student interaction.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, evaluating and providing constructive feedback to professional and temporary employees.
  • Dependable transportation and willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends, and travel in-state and out-of-state as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least four years of experience serving as director of a moderate sized graduate program.
  • Recent experience working with graduate students in a higher education environment in a University setting.
  • Proven experience working with MBA students, programs, or constituents.
