Job Description

Underwater Engineering Services, Inc. is seeking a Fabricator/Welder for our Fort Pierce, FL office. You will weld, fabricate, and assemble and repair company-owned equipment through the use of welders, cutting, and hand tools. As a team member will also be required to assist in other operations such as mechanical repairs, loading/unloading company trucks, and facility maintenance, along with other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Weld, fabricate & repair company-owned assets
  • Operate welding and fabrication equipment which may include: MIG Welder, Stick Welder, TIG Welder, Angle Grinder, Band Saw, Plasma Cutter, Oxygen/Acetylene Torch
  • Use hand and power tools in the repair and modification of equipment
  • Coordinate with supervisor to make sure all materials for project are accounted for
  • Operate forklift, telehandler, and/or wheel loader to move and load items
  • Assist with the routine maintenance of all company-owned equipment
  • Perform repairs as instructed by supervisor
  • Load/unload trucks during mobilization/demobilization
  • Report any equipment issues to supervisor
Qualifications:
  • 3 years of experience with welding/fabricating
  • Trade school diploma or welding certification preferred
  • Proficient with MIG, TIG, and stick welding is a plus
  • Familiar with typical hand/power tools
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and occasionally 50+ lbs
  • Most work will be performed in a non-climate controlled area and 50% of work is outdoors
  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems in order to troubleshoot and make repairs
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • Pro-active & complete assignments timely with strong attention to detail

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and direction given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles masks while working
  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
