The Facilities Manager (FM) is a key element in maintaining operational capacity by providing needed services to our largely internal customers in support of their business operations. The FM reports to the Director of Safety and Facilities and works closely with all levels of management; while supervising the coordination and allocation of tasks among the BHN Maintenance Team and 3rd Party contractors/providers. The FM maintains an overview of the Preventative Maintenance (PM) and repair program; and manages day to day operations with the direct support of the Assistant Facilities Manager. Performs all relevant supervisory duties such as scheduling, timesheet and mileage approvals, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions. BHN's Facilities Manager oversees third party contractors & vendors by identifying overall strategy; work scope; negotiating contracts; scheduling and assuring compliant and safe performance. The FM also conducts and/or participates in routine inspections by entities including local and state building officials, program funding sources, and state licensing officials to assure compliance and correct any deficiencies as needed. Additionally, the Facilities Manager oversees the web-based CMMS software system for preventative maintenance and daily work orders across the organization. They ensure cost- and labor-effectiveness in their work; and 24/7 coverage in support of our multiple programs and sites.

Successful Facilities Managers at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:

  • Leadership/Interpersonal/Safety:
  • 5 years of management/supervision experience in a related setting (required).
  • Strong leadership ability (required).
  • 8 years of related experience (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Develop and maintain positive/constructive relationships at all levels of the organization; clients; local & state regulatory bodies; and outside contractors.
  • Strong commitment to driving and supporting a safety culture mindset.
  • Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of residential/commercial construction & building technology.
  • Strong understanding of building systems including electrical, plumbing, roofing, HVAC, fire suppression, fire & security alarm systems.
  • Broad understanding of repair/maintenance techniques with experience choosing the best approach for a given situation.
  • Management:
  • Plan, schedule & execute on an overall Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Respond to unplanned events to minimize safety/business impact and restore operational capacity in a safe & timely manner.
  • Multi-task; oversee & manage multiple jobs/projects utilizing all available internal and external resources in a safe and healthy manner.
  • Organize tasks, personnel, and other resources efficiently; while leveraging the varying skills of the team and 3rd party resources.
  • Work in high demand and/or stressful environments on occasion.
  • Assist in preparation and maintenance of project and overall Facility Dept. budget.
  • Safety:
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and other applicable safety & health requirements.
  • Look for safety/health related risks; identify and implement appropriate risk abatement.
  • Participate in in-house safety efforts including but not limited to drills and inspections.
  • Prioritize and support all safety related projects and repairs.
  • Technology:
  • Proficiency with office equipment (copier, fax, PC, printers, and scanners); strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Willing and able to learn other/new software applications as needed.
  • Other:
  • Ability to stand for long periods and move around to/within multiple sites around western Massachusetts.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record (required).
