We have a great opportunity for a Field Engineering Specialist (can be filled at a higher level). This position can be based in Ames, IA .
The Field Engineering Specialist will support gas and electric projects within our communities in Iowa and will communicate regularly with internal and external customers on these projects.
We are looking for an individual who has proven experience in: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, surveying, excavation, construction project management, residential/commercial construction, public/private utility work.
  • This position may be filled up to a senior level.
  • This position has a residency requirement of 40 minutes.
  • This position requires emergency response and can include overnight travel.

Job Qualifications
Education:
This position prefers an associate\u0027s degree in a related area OR in the absence of a degree, 2 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good knowledge of math, physics and construction practices.
  • Ability to comprehend electric and gas codes, OSHA rules, DOT requirements.
  • Knowledge of utility construction equipment, project management, and material procurement processes.
  • Good survey and drafting skills.
  • Basic financial analysis knowledge.
  • Basic mechanical skills gained through training or job experience.
  • Efficient with computer software programs.
  • Proven effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to become qualified in electrical operations switching, gas operations, and gas emergency procedures within three years.
  • Works in a diverse and inclusive environment.
*Note: This job is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug and alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 199), and is subject to drug testing according to said regulations.
