Role Description

  • Individual will report to the Head of Finance - US Operation and serve as the Finance Lead for the US Petcare business unit, and as the finance business partner for the SVP, Head of US Petcare.
  • Individual will be relied upon to contribute and provide insight into the long-term strategic direction of the US Petcare business unit through financial modeling, customer targeting, BD/partnership evaluation, marketing and promotional program evaluation, etc.
  • Individual will be responsible for managing continuous improvement to our financial systems and processes to ensure we keep pace with the evolution of our business and have the appropriate level of foresight in data via KPI's and other key metrics.
  • Individual will be ultimately responsible for the full US Petcare BU P&L, ensuring accurate financial reporting and planning, variance analysis, and business driver understanding and conveyance to senior leadership.
  • Individual will lead a team of 2-3 colleagues, providing learning opportunities for them and fostering business partnering experiences.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the finance lead for the US Petcare organization, and business partner for SVP, Head of US Petcare
  • Monitor and track business performance with proactive identification of issues, opportunities and challenges. Ensure that Head of US Petcare has the tools and analysis required to make informed decisions about all aspects of the business.
  • Develop and enhance existing reporting tools for the Petcare organization using technology platforms such as SAP, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Hyperion Essbase, Anaplan, and Excel
  • Maintain and review automated monthly financial packages for US Petcare and handle follow-up questions from the business
  • Lead US Petcare process and develop required deliverables for key financial processes, including monthly close, quarterly earnings analysis, quarterly financial forecasts, and annual operating plans
  • Work closely with US Diagnostics, Distribution, and Retail Leads and US FP&A to ensure harmonization of processes across business units/ channels to ensure cross-BU synergies and efficiencies
  • Work closely with US Controllers organization to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, Zoetis policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations
  • Support Petcare and Diagnostics business partners and NRM in customer contracting processes and marketing program analysis - ensuring proper discounting and value is captured across both business areas and for Zoetis by examining program discount levels, ROI on investment, and other financial metrics.
  • Review and provide financial sign-off on non-standard business exceptions, pricing, and accounting flows via pricing workflow tools, and e-mail exception requests
  • Support financial workflows that run through SAP's revenue recognition platform, including analyzing individual transactions, applying appropriate accounting concepts, reporting on monthly revenue achievements, and comparing to shipped goods
  • Interact with and develop relationships with order-to-cash and record-to-report centers of excellence, and clearly articulate and summarize ongoing findings with US Finance leadership
  • Collaborate with the following functions: Diagnostics business unit, US Controllers, Distribution team, Retail team, Net Revenue Management, Shared Services, Sales and Customer Operations, Global Manufacturing and Corporate HQ
  • Serve as point of contact for commercial operations team to answer questions on opex, financial processes, key organizational resources, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability Requirements:
  • Strong analytical background with strategic thinking capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of financial planning and analysis, accounting, financial systems, and processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize, consistently meeting deadlines on multiple projects and activities
  • Work effectively in a team environment and in building collaborative relationships with peers and with other stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction from supervisor and to develop new processes
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint presentation skills required
  • SAP and Anaplan experience preferred
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate finance, preferably financial planning and analysis or business partnering
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or economics
  • MBA a plus; CPA a plus but not required
  • Prior experience in Animal Health a plus
Prior experience in Pharmaceuticals a plus
