Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate basic computer and presentation skills.
  • Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills, including speaking in front of groups.

  •  

    Ability to take initiative and maintain the company's reputation and dedication to safety, service, courtesy, cleanliness, and integrity.

  •  

    Ability to utilize problem-solving skills, including having the ability to remain patient, poised, and alert to cope with challenging/unique situations.

    Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.

    Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.

  •  

    Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.

Responsibilities

As a Food & Beverage Trainer, you will have opportunities to grow and learn about Carowinds and the entertainment industry through hands-on exposure to day-to-day operational tasks. You will be involved with providing excellent guest service to our associates and guests while handling and completing paperwork, filing, entering data, answering phones, and coordinating and conducting training programs for the entire division. This includes teaching department orientation for associates in small and large group settings. Classes contain information regarding, but not limited to, Cedar Fair Cornerstones, department policies, and culture. You may also assist with other duties as needed.

  • Facilitates small and large group orientation classes focused on topics such as, but not limited to, park policies, procedures, Cornerstones, and culture.
  • Employs active training techniques to encourage participation, tests for understanding, and responds appropriately to distractions/disruptions and challenging situations.
  • Maintains accurate records of training paperwork and attendance; distributes data and records to appropriate locations.
  • Evaluates training programs and makes curriculum recommendations.
  • Interacts with and assists, associates, and guests daily in an outgoing, friendly, versatile, flexible, and professional manner.
  • Performs general office work such as filing, sorting, copying, scanning, faxing, entering data, and answering/making phone calls.
  • Designs and produces materials and outlines for training sessions.
  • Oversees the auditing process, evaluating job perforamance of associates and makes necessary recommendations
  • Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Meets Cedar Fair's attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies.
  • Adheres to Cedar Fair's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee
  • Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
