Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Fuel Cell Operations Project Engineering Supervisor is responsible for supervising preproduction product development testing, design and system lab component integration, test stand calibration activities, build communication/supervision, and facilities coordination (within the fuel cell lab). They will coordinate priority needs within Fuel Cell Lab in Pontiac and our Fuel Cell Product Development/R&D teams, fostering the communication required to ensure the highest level of safety, test quality, and production capacity in a dynamic lab testing atmosphere.

In this role, data analysis will be used to improve engineering operations by identifying and correcting component failures at the test stand, lab, and facilities level. Communications and organization skills will be key in solving problems and maximizing quality test time. A thorough understanding of fluid, electrical, mechanical, hydrodynamic, and fuel cell systems will ensure continued safe operations, while documenting operational changes to account for the new technology.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Coordinate system debug efforts
  • Develop and support project engineering plans
  • Complete pre-operational safety reviews
  • Develop and mentor a small team
  • Identify and respond to facility level concerns
  • Support safety and technical review boards

Additional Job Description

SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Greater than 5 years of testing, operations, or related experience within an emerging technology environment or related engineering experience
  • Experience using computer-controlled hardware and instrumentation
  • Experience coordinating troubleshooting and replacement of instrumentation such as temperature and pressure sensors, and mass flow control
  • Experience reading and following mechanical and electrical assembly documents and schematics
  • Self-reliant problem solver with demonstrated experience exceeding expectations in an electromechanical work environment
  • Ability to multitask in a highly flexible environment and adjust quickly to rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively between engineering teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in an engineering field
  • Controls experience using dSpace, MatLab, Python, LabView, or Simulink software packages
  • Experience with early development product assembly and product evolution processes
  • Experience with continuous improvement and quality problem resolution processes
  • Electrical/mechanical troubleshooting acumen
  • Experience with metadata analytics
  • Fuel Cell Experience
  • Experience with Hydrogen delivery and safety systems and procedures
  • Experience with Pure Oxygen delivery and safety systems and procedures
  • Experience with High voltage components, safety systems and procedures
  • Representative of the HOHAT team
