SUMMARY: This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Processing Floor functions in a Beef & Pork production facility to include:

  • safety; coordinating production activities with maintenance scheduling; projecting and ensuring proper staffing requirements for the department; ensuring effective understanding and use of operations and product specs; training and development of the management and hourly team members; assist in the development and management of the operation budget; promote best practices to increase equipment reliability and reduce operation cost; oversee performance of all facets of Processing; monitor product yields and general efficiencies of department; scheduling and start up; provide management with information, materials, and training to enable them to produce high quality product and work; monitor records for attendance, payroll, production reports and ergonomics; promoting new ideas and encouraging the development of all team members.
REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: 5 plus years' experience in a supervisory role. Two years employment at Tyson or equivalent experience preferred.

Familiarity with processing floor operation is a must; HACCP certification a plus; understanding of basic HACCP principals and the ability to perform CCP monitoring verification;

Physical Requirements: Must be able to access all areas of the production floor to conduct audits and inspections; be able to use fixed ladders, stairs, and steps. Able to tolerate environmental conditions in the area of responsibility; the temperature in most of the areas range from 28 - 45 degrees and could encounter damp environment and slippery surfaces.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.

Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate with all levels of management.

Special Skills: Team leader, problem solving, and motivation to take on special projects.

Supervisory: Responsible for all Production Operations at the facility; includes managing all production, supervisors, department, production schedules, product rotation, CCP verification, schedules and overseeing safety committee.

Travel: Some travel required as needed.

Preference given to internal qualified candidates currently employed at this facility followed by candidates from other Tyson facilities then external candidates.
