Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity for a Generation Equipment Specialist to join our Generation Engineering department.If you served in the military and are currently transitioning to civilian life, we have the perfect opportunity for you!This department is responsible for providing engineering services and support to the most critical function of our business, our Power Plants. In this challenging role, you will plan, direct, and implement large steam turbine, combustion turbine and generator outage maintenance and engineering projects in a safe and environmentally conscious manner. This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate's qualifications.

This position offers a competitive base salary, outage pay, an annual incentive bonus and relocation assistance!

Where will I work?
This position will work at one of our Iowa power plants and offers the flexibility to work from home, in the office, and will travel as needed to support work at our generating stations. Travel will be a combination of day trips and overnight stays, averaging 25-50% depending on workload. The successful candidate must reside in Iowa.

Job Qualifications
Education

• Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.

Required Experience

• 7 years of experience directly related to Steam Turbine, Combustion Turbine, Boiler, Heat Recovery Steam Generator or Generator maintenance.
• Experience working with vendors and contractors to deliver goods and services in a timely and professional manner.

Other Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of generators, steam turbines or combustion turbines.
• Knowledge of the GT component management, repair, metallurgical mechanical and NDT assessment including failure of GT components.
• Project management skills, working knowledge of the electric and steam generation industry and any experience with power plant operations would be a plus.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills - with an ability to communicate with a wide range of customers (engineers, plant management, finance, skilled laborers)
• Proven ability to use computer software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
