Position Purpose:

Within the Cost Analysis Team in the Office of Sponsored Projects, the Grant Accountant works as part of a customer-focused post-award team to provide a full range of post-award services and expertise to Dartmouth faculty and staff.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:

Bachelors plus 1-2 year(s) of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business, or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience working in an accounting field.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of computerized financial accounting programs.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to set priorities.
  • Initiative, sound judgment, and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated confidence and tact to work well with others.
  • Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle General Ledger software, strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Grant Accounting preferred.

Description:

Accounting Functions - Maintains and updates Dartmouth's grants and contracts billing systems; reviews award terms and conditions; creates and maintains sponsor payment schedule in Oracle Grant Accounting (OGA); facilitates invoicing and collection for a large and diverse portfolio of sponsors; assists the Sponsored Research Managers with closeout/reconciliation of grants and contracts.

General Ledger Transaction and Reporting Support - Deposits checks and identifies wire transfers for input and application into Oracle Accounts Receivable module; assists in preparation of various grants and contracts financial reporting; prepares journal entries for reimbursements, cash allocations, and corrections; processes transactions and resolves issues on Dartmouth sponsored accounts; reviews and follow up on questionable financial transactions; provides answers and/or assistance to Dartmouth staff and sponsor email inquiries.
