Overview

The Service Development Engineer supports QSC product/product families from conception to end of life, becoming the 'product owner' throughout the product lifecycle. As product owner, the service development engineer makes sure the product meets the market needs. The service development engineer works with multiple internal and external stakeholders to design for serviceability, create service policy and documentation, enable testing, analyze failed units for systemic issues, and resolve any systemic defects. The service engineer also oversees the end of product lifecycle, planning for and communicating end of life serviceability with internal and external partners.

Base Pay Range $75,000 - $125,000

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. Responsibilities

Serve as customer and service partner advocate in the product design process

  • Advocate for reliability, simple diagnosism and serviceability in design
  • Create service plan & policy for new products
  • Facilitate any board or product-test processes related to service
  • Develop service strategy and documentation for new products
  • Train internal and external service partners
Create/document diagnostic procedures for technical support staff and train support staff on those procedures where appropriate
  • Identify, implement and communicate tools, programs, and knowledge/skill sets required to support the products
  • Provide diagnostics procedures, training and scripts to the global technical support team and service partners to ensure a consistent customer experience, by proper isolation of hardware issues versus software issues
  • Train technical support and service partners on any relevant diagnostic methods
Support QSC internal/external partners and clients with hardware related product issues
  • Analyze failed products and determine root cause
  • Identify and communicate failure trends to appropriate parties
  • Collaborate with quality and development teams to resolve systemic issues
  • Issue any relevant technical service bulletins to all internal/external service partners

Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electrical Engineering Technology (ET) or closely related field.
  • Q-SYS Level I, Level II, and Quantum Certifications a plus
  • 3+ years technical experience in the electronics industry, preferably in hardware test and repair
  • High Independence Desired - this person should serve as a technical leader, taking the initiative to identify and create needed materials, conduct testing, support clients with very little supervision
  • Exceptional communication and documentation skills, including proficiency in standard QSC Office 360 tools, etc.
  • Solid grasp of current analog and digital circuit theory
  • Familiarity with CAD software technologies
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented programming languages such as visual basic, C++ and scripting formats (Python, Lua)
  • Lean (5S) work experience a plus
