Kenyon College invites applications for the position of Head Women's Golf Coach / Club Sports Coordinator. This is a full time, 10-month reporting position with benefits. Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Athletics, this coach will take on the responsibilities of the NCAA D-III Women's Golf program in accordance and compliance with NCAA, NCAC, and Kenyon College policies and regulations. The Head Women's Golf Coach will work to fulfill the following responsibilities: coaching student athletes, scheduling practices and competitions, and recruiting. The head coach is responsible for the organization, maintenance and comprehensive planning for the women's golf program. As Coordinator of Club Sports, the coach will oversee the management of the College's numerous Club Sports teams, ensuring adherence to campus policies and assisting with such processes as budget requests, safety protocols, and roster management. Additional responsibilities will be assigned in game management, facility overview, teaching, and / or administration. It is also expected that the Head Women's Golf Coach will embrace the department mission of fostering learning and developing community with a focus on the values of citizenship, competition, resiliency, sportsmanship, and teamwork within Kenyon's unique campus culture. The Head Women's Golf Coach / Club Sports Coordinator serves the Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation in the Division of Student Affairs. This position reports to the Associate Director of Athletics and supports the mission of the College in its focus on student development, outcomes and success. This is a ten (10) month position with benefits that includes morning, evening and weekend responsibilities.

Essential Functions

Head Women's Golf Coach

  • Recruit academically and athletically strong applicants for admission in the selective, highly competitive application pool at Kenyon College utilizing ARMS software, including preparing promotional materials.
  • Teach and instruct student-athletes in the rules and fundamentals of golf.
  • Develop and implement in-season training and workouts, practice and match-day coaching.
  • Coordinate practice times at local facilities and schedule competition in appropriate, competitive, tournaments for the women's golf program.
  • Compile training results for all events and assist with statistics verification for official records and sports information.
  • Provide management of the Women's Golf budget for program purchases, travel, and fees.
  • Collaborate with sports performance staff to maintain student athlete welfare.
  • Work in conjunction with sports performance professionals to maintain student-athlete welfare.
  • Stay up-to-date with sport and coaching best practices in order to provide opportunities for all involved in the program to become students of the game by sharing knowledge of the sport.
  • Participate in the NCAC governance for women's golf at coaches meetings and stay informed on USGA and NCAA rules.
  • All coaches are assigned additional duties in the areas of facility and event /game management and teaching. These responsibilities are determined annually by Coordinator of Lifetime Fitness, Game /Event Manager, Facility Manager(s) and Director of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation.

Club Sports Coordinator

  • Oversee all Club Sports teams to ensure adherence to campus policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Office of Student Engagement for the approval and budgeting of Club Sports.
  • Assist Club Sports teams with purchasing, facility reservations, and competition logistics.

Other Expectations:

  • Serve as a member of the Athletics, Fitness and Recreation team, responsible for providing leadership, goals, and program implementation at a fully residential campus housing 1800 undergraduate students.
  • Develop and maintain mutually supportive and collaborative working relationships with student affairs colleagues, faculty, and other campus partners to accomplish shared objectives and tasks.
  • Lead and assist with designated departmental, divisional, and/or College committees, initiatives and processes.
  • Develop meaningful connections with students, staff and faculty by being available and visible on campus.
  • Assist with special projects and duties, as needed.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to and compliance with the College's and Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation policies and procedures as well as the North Coast Athletic Conference and NCAA constitutions, bylaws, legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Department of Athletics' student-athlete handbook, and the Student Affairs and College's mission statements.

Working Conditions

  • Some heavy lifting / moving equipment is required.
  • The working schedule is not traditional nor regular: early morning, day, late evenings, weekends are required, as may be work during college breaks and summers.
  • Travel for athletic contests, recruiting, coaches meetings and convention/caucus attendance is required.
  • The ability to obtain College driver certification is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience instructing on the rules and fundamentals of the sport.
  • Collegiate golf coaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience in recruitment of academically focused-student athletes is preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED Certification is required (and can be completed after hire).
