Purpose
This role is a project-based position in support of developing/implementing safety initiatives for steel manufacturing. This role will assess risk, hazards, and exposures to employees and will implement programs and controls to eliminate the risk, hazards, and exposures.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Principal and Sr. Health and Safety Analyst to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
  • Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting
  • Provides technical support to management
  • Stops operation and activities that could harm associates or equipment
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems
  • Participates in safety inspections and audits to assess compliance with safety regulations and procedures
  • Reviews incident reports and follows up on corrective actions
  • Participates in the formation of tactical teams to evaluate the strategic safety initiatives addressing the gaps, opportunities, and best practices

Technical Skills
  • Specific knowledge of/exposure to manufacturing operations preferred
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations
  • Proven competency in root cause problem solving techniques
  • ISO 45001 experience
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications; specifically Excel

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in engineering, business, physical sciences or related with 4 years of experience in a manufacturing health & safety role
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, physical sciences or related with 2 years of experience in a manufacturing health & safety role
  • Master's degree in engineerin g, business, physical sciences or related with no experience required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in engineering, business, physical sciences or related with 6 years of experience in a manufacturing health & safety role
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, physical sciences or related with 4 years of experience in a manufacturing health & safety role
  • Master's degree in engineering, business, physical sciences or related with 1 year of experience in a manufacturing health & safety role
