Job Summary

Join Alliant Energy as a skilled Heavy-Duty Equipment Track Semi Driver and hit the road to success with precision, safety and expertise.

In this position you will operate heavy-duty equipment for the purpose of construction and maintenance of electric lines and other property as required. Drive semi-tractor and trailer to move heavy-duty equipment as needed. Performs physical and recordkeeping duties related to this function.

Prior experience operating pressure digger and semi tractors is a must.

What you will do

• Operates the heavy-duty earth boring machines for the purpose of constructing and maintaining electric lines and other properties as required.
• Loads and hauls poles and other line material.
• Digs holes and strings conductor with the heavy-duty earth borer or by hand.
• Follows all applicable Safety Rules and Operating Practices.
• Installs and removes poles and structures.
• Performs minor maintenance and lubrication, makes routine and periodic inspections of the heavy-duty earth borer machine.
• Responsible for general care of semi-truck and track machine, keeping fuel and service records and arranging for necessary repairs of maintenance.
• Drives truck and performs ground work as required.
• Drives semi-tractor and trailer for moving heavy-duty equipment from one location to another as scheduled.
• Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

• 3 years' experience in the successful operation of heavy semi-trailer
• Experience and training in loading a semi-tractor and trailer

Other Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
• This position is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug/alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 382), and is subject to drug/alcohol testing according to said regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Good driving record at operating heavy automotive equipment
• Aptitude for and interest in operating, adjusting and maintaining equipment of this kind
• Basic clerical ability
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
• Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
