Oakwood is seeking a highly motivated and hands on Hotel Sales Manager to join the team! This position is based out of Oakwood Residence Midtown East.

Location: 556 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10016

The Sales Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring that target sales goals and profit margins are met through prospecting new business and maintaining a positive rapport with existing accounts. As a representative of the company, the Sales Manager will attend trade shows, market segment related events, community activities, etc. in order to increase visibility.

Key features of your day:

  • Achieve budgeted revenues to meet or exceed budget goal and to maximize profitability
  • Develop and execute focused action plans that will ensure that established target sales goals and profit margins are met or exceeded
  • Maintain day-to-day sales activities to include tours and appointments for both hotel and apartments
  • Establish and maintain close contact with top accounts, and target accounts, through appointments, phone calls, tours, correspondence, and business meetings
  • Prospect for new business through outside sales calls, solicitation, networking, and cold calling
  • Qualify leads and prospects gained from cold calls, sales blitz, and other sources
  • Develop and maintain rapport with competitor hotels, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, etc
  • Attend and participate in our corporate Sales Meetings as well as training seminars and other meetings as requested by management
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and trends in market, particularly amongst competitor set
  • Contribute and present sales related successes during bi-weekly sales call with the building owners
  • Collaborate with the General Manager on revenue management and move-in specials to increase occupancies and revenue
  • Design and deliver marketing promotions and campaigns involving direct mail, social media, ads, etc
  • Develop awareness for the brand in the local community

Best candidates will have:
  • Understands revenue management functions and account profitability
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible management experience in Business Transient Sales within a 100+ room full-service hotel; OR 4-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major and 2 years of experience in Sales within a 250+ room full-service hotel or related professional area.
  • Strong customer development, relationship management, and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of property-specific business segments (e.g., group, transient, etc.)
  • Knowledge of contractual agreements and legal implications
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
  • Skills in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to thrive in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Ability to resolve and manage issues with an exceptional level of service
